2026.34 YAR by Coke

Will Coleda (aka “Coke”) has published Yet Another Release of Rakudo (2026.08), the most mature implementation of the Raku Programming Language. With an impressive amount of work by Nick Logan!

NOTE: This may well be the last Rakudo release that uses the legacy grammar by default.

Nick Logan created the RakuAST Blin Module Board with a thorough investigation into which distributions in the Raku ecosystem will fail when the new RakuAST-based grammar will become default in Rakudo. If you are a module author, now is the time to check whether your work will still continue to operate in RakuAST (to test, add RAKUDO_RAKUAST=1 to your environment, or prefix it in any testing command-line based testing that you do). And please report any issues that you may find!

Andrew’s Corner

Andrew Shitov has started a registry of Raku applications that can run unaltered on Raku++. And has started publishing modules that take advantage of Raku++’s capabilities in the Raku Ecosystem, such as JSON::Native (with impressive performance characteristics!)

Winding down

Yet another week with a Rakudo release and plenty of new and updated distributions, but sadly no blog posts.

Please keep staying safe and healthy, and keep up the good work! Even after week 83 of hopefully only 209.

Meanwhile, still: Слава Україні!  Героям слава!
