2025.28 Wayland’s Smithy

Fernando’s Corner

Cromponent now lets your components bind cookies, query-string params, headers and HTTP-auth credentials directly in the method signature and push live HTML over WebSockets with two tiny hooks. Paired with HTMX on the client, that means real-time Raku apps with zero JavaScript. Below you’ll find the new API plus a complete “live poll” example.

Wayland’s Corner

Wayland shared another thoughtful and well reasoned blog setting out the Raku: Pathways of Entry in his Scriptorium. It’s good to see a piece that puts these points into concrete form for us all to consider and help to refine a solution.

Steve’s Corner

Steve harcs on with HARC Stack: Modelling, the ninth in the serious and is happy that he gets to wield the power of Red to make an Air::Component that embodies model, view, controller behaviour and SQL database backend (the “A” in HARC is Air and the “R” is Red).

Author’s note: Air::Component reuses FCO’ Cromponent module. These new features will be available in Air soon.

Winding down

A quiet week in Core. Quite of lot of activity on the web application side with Cromponents if you like to cut Cro templates or the HARC stack if you want to write your web app in raw Raku. Both leveraging the HTMX library that decouples the server side from JavaScript. Please keep staying safe and healthy, and keep up the good work! Even after week 26 of hopefully only 209.

Meanwhile, still: Слава Україні!  Героям слава!
