2025.06 It’s A Bot!

A new bot has appeared on the #raku-dev IRC channel: “rakkable”, which allows for searches in all of the active modules in the Raku ecosystem (currently about 11000 files). Like other bots, it can be address by mentioning it at the start of a line, followed by a colon, e.g. “rakkable: eco-provides frobnicate“.

It’s still very young and pretty experimental, so please be gentle in its usage! Once more mature, it will be rolled out to other Raku-related IRC channels.

Alexey’s Corner

Alexey Melezhik has published a Sparrowdo cookbook this week, which guides you through remotely managing your hosts over ssh (/r/rakulang comments).

Weekly Challenge #308 is available for your perusal.

New Pull Requests

Core Developments

  • Daniel Green slightly optimized Latin1 decoding on MoarVM, probably on Intel hardware only.
  • Timo Paulssen made accesses to spesh arg guards atomic, fixing a race condition on ARM hardware.
  • Elizabeth Mattijsen made Int.uniname return a Failure in 6.e for unassigned codepoints, and made .head() / .first() / .tail() on native arrays return a left-value, just like on other Iterables.

Winding down

Please keep staying safe and healthy, and keep up the good work! Even after week 3 of hopefully only 209.

Meanwhile, still: Слава Україні!  Героям слава!
